This is a new and exciting role within one of the UK's largest retail groups that is a unique position with incredible potential. As such it is ideal for an ambitious and highly commercially minded retail category manager looking for change and an opportunity to further their career within a blue chip retail environment.
This is an innovative new business model that is heavily working alongside one of the world's greatest branded manufacturers. The role requires management of Assistant Category Managers and daily liaison with the manufacturer whose category you will represent. The role is unusual as it has a heavy account management element securing exclusive product lines for the group. It is therefore imperative that you have excellent relationship building and negotiating skills to develop new and innovative business opportunities.
Working extremely closely with the consumer electronics supplier this is a highly involved and varied role that requires high levels of PC literacy and attention to detail. With either a business, marketing or related degree you will have at least two years senior commercial marketing, buying, merchandising or category management experience within a retail environment. You will work closely with the manufacturer developing in store POS, visual merchandising, communications and other advertising material. These promotional campaigns will create differentiators from other high street and online competitors with a plan to create a dominant and highly profitable position.
To succeed you will have sound commercial judgement with excellent marketing analysis skills. You will be able to demonstrate your skills in planning, executing and managing to deliver objectives together with expert control of commercial metrics and an understanding of the commercial implications of decisions and actions. You will be an effective manager and motivator that is able to influence both teams and individuals. You will also be a superb networker with an innate ability to build long term sustainable business.
The role has board level contact on a weekly basis so you must be a confident, professional individual with solid presentation skills. This is a phenomenal career opportunity that, dependent on your success, could have significant career growth potential.
