Pizza Hut targets sales recruitment language at Gen Y

A company looking to increase the attraction of its retail sales jobs has targeted the language of its websites to appeal to the age group it is hoping to hire, a source reveals.

Pizza Hut has adopted the practice in order to appeal to the 18-to-28 year old age bracket, Personnel Today reports.

Director of human resources for the company Jayne Little suggests this will improve the appeal of being employed by the brand.

"[We are] talking in the language of people that come and work for us," she explains.

Highlighting the importance of the internet for retail recruitment Ms Little dismisses suggestions people want to apply in the traditional pen-and-paper manner, the news provider writes.

"When you look at the younger age group, they're doing everything online," she tells the source.

She says: "It's about adapting communication methods."

In a recent study by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, 46 per cent of managers believed Generation Y workers had different attributes to previous demographics.
