High street spending rise could see growth in FMCG sales jobs

People are becoming increasingly optimistic about the economic situation and beginning to spend on the high street.

That is the view of one recruitment expert, with Rob Scott, managing director of Aaron Wallis Sales Recruitment, predicting the green shoots of recovery would soon begin to trickle down to consumers and job-hunters.

Mr Scott claimed that the austerity which characterised the end of 2008 and the start of 2009 has begun to wear thin, leading to growing sales for retailers.

He highlighted the fact that this has also fed through to a rise in the number of FMCG sales jobs being marketed – approximately a 40 per cent growth since the start of 2010.

"If you look at what's happened over the last three months, I think that people have got fed up with feeling poor and there's a bit of a feel-good factor," Mr Scott explained.

His comments follow figures published by the CBI that showed 46 per cent of retailers have reported rises in sales volumes in early April – increases that were higher than at this period in 2009.

Aaron Wallis offer a wide range of FMCG sales jobs across all levels from Account Manager to Senior National Account Manager and Account Director. For FMCG sales recruitment solutions visit: www.aaronwallis.co.uk
